On September 30, six Piper High School students attended a networking luncheon at the high school with Mr. Edgar Palacios who is the President and CEO of the Latinx Education Collaborative. His organization is focused on equity and inclusion in education, specifically in the greater Kansas City metro area. A recent study commissioned by his organization focuses on the need for more Latinx representation in the teaching staffs for kindergarten through 12th grade schools. The six students in attendance are leaders of Diversity Club, Latinx Leadership, Black Leaders of America, Gay Straight Alliance and also have an interest in pursuing education as a career.
Mr. Palacios encouraged the students to find their passion and celebrate their identities.
