Tuesday Talk with Dr. Dain - September 15, 2020

Good Afternoon Me Hearties!  What a week it has been!  It has been so fantastic to see our students’ faces this week back in the buildings and via Zoom.  We have missed them so much.  Thank you for sending such eager learners to school.

Hopefully by now you have received the GREAT news that students no longer have to complete a daily learning log for the days they are learning remotely.  However, we do have just ONE form that we need you to complete ONE TIME for all students in your family.  The form is in Skyward and should take you less than 60 seconds to complete!  Click here for directions on accessing this form. We appreciate your family completing the form at your earliest convenience.

COVID-19 Family Reminders

Just a quick reminder that if in the unfortunate case a parent exhibits COVID-19 symptoms and are waiting test results, children in the same home need to be quarantined/excluded from school until the parent’s test results are received.  This type of vigilant attention to the health and well-being of others keeps our school communities safe!  Thank you for your assistance.

Calling all Substitute Teachers!

Becoming a substitute teacher is a great way to have an impact on your community, and we are always looking for great substitutes to join our team! To apply, click here. Substitute pay is $110/day for emergency substitutes or $120/day for fully licensed teachers.

Anyone with at least 60 hours of college credit is eligible to apply for an emergency substitute license in the state of Kansas. For more information about how you can apply, click here

Bus Transportation

If you have questions about anything related to transportation, please feel free to reach out to our District Transportation Manager, Kathy German at:

Piper excels is so many ways, but one of the ways in which I am the proudest is the way the students care for others with special needs.  Yesterday, Piper High School’s JV football team was able to do something special for a Lansing student/athlete with special needs.

With a substantial lead over the Lions, the Pirates allowed junior Hunter Blome to score a touchdown during the last play of the game.

Some of the Piper players participating in the special play include:

JayVon Simmons - #17

Sawyer Maz - #20

TiwJuan Griffin - #22

Miquel Martin - #23

Drew Paulackovich - #59

Quinten Enriquez - #65

Alex Behrman - #74

The JV players “carried themselves with class and dignity,” said Piper’s head football coach, Rick Pollard. Lansing’s head football coach Dylan Brown said that the kind gesture made their guy feel great. Piper won the game 44-6.

Proud to be a Pirate,
