Restart WYCO Planning for Schools

Dear Piper Families,
Since the abrupt closure of schools in March due to the onset of COVID-19, schools and school districts in Wyandotte County have met the challenges of the health pandemic head-on. We collectively transitioned to online learning activities to meet the varying educational needs of our students and their families to close out the school year.
We understand that a lot of uncertainty remains as we prepare to reopen doors for the 2020-2021 school year, but with your continued support, there are no challenges that we cannot overcome together as a community. We are working collaboratively in the best interest of our students to develop a comprehensive framework for reopening schools with guidance from the Kansas State Board of Education and our local health department.
Decisions regarding re-opening school will be made according to the phase Wyandotte County is in at the time as indicated by state and local health officials. We are currently in Phase 3 of the state’s reopening plan. We are aware that parents wish to begin making plans for the start of school, however, please understand this is a very fluid situation and some details may change prior to school in August. We are working in collaboration with the other Wyandotte County School Districts to plan for a safe reopening of schools. As school leaders in Wyandotte County, we will ensure that our plans are tied closely to our local public health framework. To find a copy of the Restart WYCO Phased approach to reopening schools given the information currently available to us, click the link below.
Thank you for your flexibility and support of our district’s commitment and resolve to reopening schools in a safe and responsive environment that promotes academic excellence.
To that end, as we are preparing for a variety of options as it relates to the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year. Visit to complete a brief survey about your student’s access to internet at home.
