November BOE Brief Recap

The Board of Education held its regular meeting at Piper High School on Monday, November 12. Below is a brief summary of meeting discussion and action.

  • DLR provided an update regarding exterior/interior design and timeline for the new building.
  • Acceptance of $17,500 check from the Piper Community Festival Foundation! Thank you to this group for their continued hard work, organization, and time!
  • Acceptance of $5,000 grant from KC STEM Alliance for our STEM initiatives!
  • Discussion of Capital Outlay upcoming projects (weather permitting):
    • Baseball field improvements – safety fence in front of dugouts, warning track improvements, drainage improvements. Future improvements: infield replace and re-sod, infield elevation.
    • Softball field – additional infield work
  • Approval of 2019/20 district calendar
  • Discussion regarding senior release, graduation venue, and scholars diploma
  • District policy, student handbook, administrative, and classified handbook revision update, completion of project slated for spring.
  • Safety and security update
  • Preliminary discussion on reconfiguration of buildings, personnel, equipment/furnishings, etc. for 2020/21 school year. Future discussions will occur in upcoming months for planning and budgeting purposes.
