Kansas Communities that Care (KCTC) Survey
-
Piper USD 203 administers the Kansas Communities that Care (KCTC) Survey to students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12 whose parents provide permission (written or electronic) for their student(s) to participate. Students also have the option to opt-out of participation even if their parents have approved.
Regarding the KCTC survey, it is a tool to help schools understand how students behave, think and feel about alcohol, marijuana and other drug use, bullying and school safety. The KCTC survey measures teen substance use, delinquency, and related problem behaviors in schools and communities. The survey gives schools insight into the problems students face and shows what educators can do to help them succeed. The information is important for planning effective prevention programs in schools and the community and provides data to assist in applying for grant funding. In order to protect student privacy, all responses are anonymous, and all participation is voluntary.
Please note, the district will only be administering questions from the Depression-Suicide and Family Domain sections.
As part of the recommendations of HB 2576, the district is posting information about the KCTC survey at the link below. Please feel free to look through the survey to learn more about its purposes and how it can help our schools serve the needs of our learners.
