Basic Support
Students at Piper will receive a dedicated student device. These devices are assigned to each student, and generally they will retain use of the same device for their duration at a specific building.
Grades K-5: iPad
- iPads assigned to students in grades K-5 by the teacher at the start of the school year.
- iPads will not leave the building. They remain in the classroom and are charged overnight.
- Students in grades K-2 will receive an iPad with a foam case that includes a handle for carrying.
- Students in grades 3-5 will receive an iPad with a Logitech rugged keyboard case.
- Students will be assigned a different iPad if/when they change grade levels or classroom teachers.
- When there is an issue with the device, the teacher will report that to the Technology Department for correction or repair.
Grades 6-8: iPad
- iPads are assigned at the start of grade 6, or when a new student is enrolled at the Middle School.
- iPads will remain assigned to the same student for their duration at the Middle School, even when they change grade levels.
- Students are allowed to take their iPad home, but are responsible for any damage as outlined in the 1:1 Handbook, and must bring the iPad back into school fully charged the next day.
- When there is an issue with the iPad, the student will need to bring it to the library where it can be assessed. If a repair is needed, a loaner will be assigned to the student. The student will be responsible for the loaner device and must return it in fully working condition before their iPad can be returned.
Grades 9-12: MacBook Air
- MacBooks are assigned at the start of grade 9, or when a new student is enrolled at the High School.
- MacBooks will remain assigned to the same student for their duration at the High School, even when they change grade levels.

- When there is an issue with the MacBook, the student will need to bring it to the library where it can be assessed. If a repair is needed, a loaner will be assigned to the student. The student will be responsible for the loaner device and must return it in fully working condition before their MacBook can be returned.
